The amount of homelessness is greatest in Africa, Asia, and Latin America; this is most likely due to the overpopulation in these places.  Bangladesh: According to a survey of Dhaka in 1996, there were 75,000 people in institutional buildings and 80,000 living in shopping areas, construction sites.  Rural homelessness in Bangladesh is estimated by Rahman (1993) to vary between 7 and 15 per cent. In the river-eroded areas, it may reach 20 per cent.  Although homelessness is mainly a problem in poor or developing countries it is also an apparent problem in rich fully developed countries; this makes homelessness a unique problem.
